Big Bam Boom

Sometimes people new to practicing expect fireworks. They think they will see many colors and hear many sound like a big fireworks display. However, practice is not like that. Practice is sitting in meditation even when you do not want to. It is not saying something mean even when you have been wronged. It is a gradual process, no bams or booms. Just a great deal of putting one foot in front of the other and trudging on. That may discourage some people but it should not. That is the way it is. If you know ahead of time, you do not get disappointed. The moon crosses the sky gradually. It would be boring if you tried to watch it every minute of the night. If you do not constantly watch it, it seems to get around the sky pretty good. One time, next time over there. If we do not watch our practice every second expecting movement, we are pleasantly surprised how much sky we can cover. There may be a stray firework here or there, but it is best just to forget about it and keep working. Just sit, practice and cross the sky.
