Vanish

Once we are here, we have no choice but to vanish. Some people have great fear of what happens. Of course, no one knows for sure. I just know I want to be at peace when the time comes. Often people are frightened because they have lived their lives ignoring the inevitable. If we focus some of our practice on death, we see no need to fear it. It is said that if you understand the beginning, you should have no trouble with the ending. If we understand what life is, what it is about, the transient nature of it, then death should not bring so much anxiety. If you are a good Buddha when you are alive, you will be a good Buddha in death wherever that takes you. One journey begets another which begets another. I have a feeling that once we are dead, we are not going to be able to do much about how we lived. Since we cannot do much about what happens in death, we would be wise to focus on how we are living instead and not spend so much time dwelling on what ifs. Practice being a good Buddha now and it cannot help but help you later on.
