Moss Covered Rocks

When we study Buddhism or Taoism, we should not be studying it with the idea that we will free ourselves from future problems. The problems will continue. What our practice does is show us a way to avoid many of them and handle the ones we do have more skillfully. We can learn from our problems if we have an open mind. Too often, we do not want to learn. We want no problems. We want an easy way. The path is the greatest way one can take but be advised that while walking it, there are steep climbs, slippery moss covered rocks, bramble, and uneven ground that we must navigate. There are no shortcuts, by-passes, or expressways to wisdom. Often we may feel like we are driving in one of those roundabouts and we feel we are going nowhere. Yet if we are going, we are having success.
