Accept Yourself

Filed under: Teachings — roshihogan @ 12:25 am

If you can learn to accept yourself, you are well on the way to being at peace. So much suffering is based on negative thoughts about our own being. This is taught by a materialistic culture that is always selling something so you can ‘improve’. You are perfect the way you are now. There is no need to fret about things. We can all make beautiful music like a wind chime. Sometimes our chimes might get tangled and we need a little adjusting but that is all. There is no need to throw the chimes away because they get tangled. When snowflakes fall, they just fall, perfectly. They do not compare themselves to another. Each snowflake has an individual and intricate pattern. So do we. Comparing ourselves to others is futile. It only inflates or deflates the ego. Neither is good. Be the tree that is neither knocked over by the winds of praise or the storms of criticism. Plant your roots deep. That is the way to stop judging yourself by standards that are corrupt to begin with.
