Education

There are many things that pass for education. We often think of a college degree as meaning someone is highly educated. But are they? Perhaps, but being book smart may not translate to being street or practice smart. We have to be smart enough to know we need to follow the path. Once we get on the path, sometimes it may not be so good to be too smart. We might start thinking we know more than we do. We might start focusing on learning rather than practicing; maybe take pride in how many suttas we know for example. An encyclopedia of knowledge without a heart of wisdom. That is the real danger. The Tao has the wisdom to maintain balance, and integrity. We must seek wisdom and not simply education. Education without wisdom is like a shell without a peanut inside.
